I am directed by the Secretary to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 23rd ultimo on the subject.
The draft points out that the auxiliary steamer "Hauer" was exempted from security for a passenger under the provisions of Sub-section (6) of Section 5 of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance of 1897.
The Board of Trade's suggestion that it would be advisable to ascertain definitely whether the Steamer "Hauer" was claimed to be exempt on the grounds of the provisions of the said Ordinance is now made.
